Slow Chemical is clearly an artist who enjoys experimenting with different styles of music while spitting thought-provoking lyrics. The Uninvited Guest continues this trend, serving as a reflection of the artist’s growth and willingness to explore life’s complicated thoughts and emotions that we all face and can relate to.
Track Highlights
Here are a few of my favorite songs from The Uninvited Guest:
- “Hear Em Say” – This song highlights the artist’s growth in perspective, highlighting things he used to value in his current life and how far he’s come. This song is inspirational and has a hook that stays in your head long after the song is over.
- “How You Feeling?” – Another song with a catchy hook. What I appreciate most about this song is that he pays homage to hip-hop artists who have inspired and influenced him throughout his life and career.
- “Peeping Tom” – This song is one I wanted to highlight because I felt like his cadence matched the beat and the tone of the song well. Beats like this fit him perfectly, in my opinion.
- “Warn Others” – I appreciate this song purely off of his bars in this song. I appreciated it because his style reminded me of a song I love from Theory Hazit called We Are The Ones with Toni Shift.

Listen To Slow Chemical If…
I think you’d like Slow Chemical if you appreciate artists like Noname, Chance The Rapper, or Common. They rap, but their music doubles as a beautiful and impactful spoken word piece. These are the types of artists you can sit and listen to their lyrics with or without music – the performative quality and storytelling are all you need.
This comparison comes as no surprise because Slow Chemical not only raps, but he’s a songwriter, a composer/beatmaker, an indie comic book writer and publisher(some of you may know him as Ryan White of RYMU Entertainment), and a filmmaker – this man was destined to tell stories!
Final Thoughts
The Uninvited Guest is an overall solid body of work. The theme is consistent throughout, whether he’s discussing life as a whole, relationships, or his inner thoughts. He covers the complexities of people and life through each song, with each offering its own story.
If you’re into lyricism and relatable themes, this album offers a multifaceted listening experience worth giving a shot.
